Birding and Nature

Birding List

Nature abounds here at Roberts’ Roost Country Guest House. Dennis and I are avid birders and enjoy seeing the wide variety of birds that come to visit the gardens and feeders of Roberts’ Roost. As the saying goes, build it and they will come! Since installing the flower gardens and bird feeders, we have had some new and exciting visitors. We have nesting Eastern Bluebirds, Song Sparrows, Gray Catbirds, Brown Thrashers, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, House Wrens, Indigo Buntings, Downy Woodpeckers, and White-breasted Nuthatches around the perimeter of our one third acre yard. We have Great Horned Owl, Barred Owl, and Eastern Screech Owl that come to visit frequently at night, a male Ring-necked Pheasant and Northern Bobwhite that have called during the day, along with a Pileated Woodpecker seen occasionally.  We have visits from white-tailed deer, skunk, opossum, raccoon, badger, ground hog, coyote, painted turtle, snapping turtle, and once in awhile the neighbor’s runaway cows. We will be keeping a bird list of the birds sighted from the yard at Roberts’ Roost. If you enjoy nature, this is the place for you to relax and have some quiet time, amid all the splendor that nature provides.
